Week 1 ended with the graduation of 2 countries Burkina Faso and Ivory Coast which consisted of 202 individuals. Each country did report out the day before on what they learned in their respective tracks (IT, Composite, Operations and One Health) through the West Africa Disaster Preparedness Initiative. They documented recommendations for implementations and leaders (Mr. Sinare Halhassane, the Director of Cabinet and Minister in charge of Civil Protection – Burkina Faso and Gen. Dja Ble Joseph, former Minister of Interior – Cote D’Ivoire) from their respective countries presented them their certificates.
They are to return to their home countries and implement their disaster mitigation, management and response plans. After the ceremony, participants took over the courtyard of the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre (KAIPTC) and danced for a couple hours to celebrate their achievement.
